Adwares - Common But Intrusive And A Nuisance.
Adware com is the short form of advertising software. These are generally not considered to be malicious software, since they are what they claim to be – adware – it is meant to advertise something and does not have the malicious intent of collecting information from your computer or of harming your computer. An Adware is normally defined as and any software that is created to display advertisements while any software is being used or is being installed. Most adware comes in the form of popups in your compute, which are part and parcel of some softwares that you may be using. They help the software manufacturers pay their bills, since all of it is paid advertising. They differ from spyware in the very reason for their existence. They are meant to be advertisements, which in theory at least are meant to be targeted to a specific customer. However they take up space in the computers and use up the systems resources. And above all they are intrusive and very annoying. They are very inconvenient to the user since they have to be shut down, and in theory they have to be noticed before you shut them down, thereby serving the purpose for which they were made. Often if you buy a software, they give you the option of taking one that is free of adware. This is a problem that is evident through the entire internet community. Hence a lot of attempts have been made to find solutions to the problem by various software manufacturers. The simplest solution is of course the one provided by antivirus software. Most of them come bundled with anti-adware patches. These prevent the adwares from being lodged in your computer. Hey also identify previously lodged adware and remove them from the computer. There are also a few free softwares available on the Net which have shown varying degrees of success in removing adwares. Some softwares such as Spybot and Ad-aware have been built specifically to work on Adwares. These do not function as Anti-viruses but only as Ant-Adware programs. Most browsers come with a program that permits you to block pop-ups. These will show you a message informing you of the fact that a popup has been blocked, and you have the option to look at it or just keep it hidden from view. Adwares do serve a purpose, after all they help the software manufacturers pay their bills, and if targeted carefully, they may be of interest to you, but they are intrusive and more of a nuisance than anything else !!
